NOT AN ULTRA. AN EXPEDITION.
Deep in the Sahyadri, distance is only the beginning. Technical mountains. Remote terrain. Long climbs. Darkness. Weather. Isolation. The farther you go, the less this feels like a race. And the more it becomes an expedition.

100% Self-Supported Mountain Ultra
BEYOND DISTANCE. INTO THE UNKNOWN.
The Great Mawla Ghaati Ultra was not created to give runners another finish line. It was created to find out what remains when comfort disappears. Deep inside the Sahyadri, the race moves through unforgiving ghaats, isolated trails, brutal climbs and endless descents. As kilometres become hours — and hours become days — speed matters less. What remains is judgement, resilience, self-reliance and the will to continue. From 10K to 200 Miles, every distance takes you deeper. Deeper into the mountains. Deeper into uncertainty. Deeper into yourself. There will be moments when the mountain asks you to stop. Your answer becomes your race story. THE GREAT MAWLA GHAATI ULTRA Not everyone needs to understand it. Only those who stand at the start line.

History of the Name
Mawla is more than a race name. It comes from the mountain country of the Sahyadri and the people shaped by it. The valleys around the Sahyadri were historically known as Maval, and the people of this region were known as Mavalas. They became deeply connected with the rise of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the establishment of Swarajya.
These were people who understood steep slopes, narrow passes, forests, ridges and difficult mountain movement as part of life. Their strength was not simply physical power. It was familiarity with terrain, mobility, courage, judgement, loyalty and the ability to keep moving through a landscape that punished the unprepared.
The Race Story
The Great Mawla Ghaati Ultra is our tribute to that mountain spirit.
It does not attempt to recreate a battle, and it does not treat history as costume. It takes inspiration from something deeper: the relationship between the Mawla, the Sahyadri and the ability to move through difficult mountain country with resilience and purpose.
Here, the mountain is not scenery. It controls the race. Climbs change pace. Ridges expose weakness. Darkness changes judgement. Weather changes plans. Distance slowly removes comfort.
At 10K, you meet the Ghaati. At 50K, you begin to understand it. At 100 Miles, self-reliance becomes part of the race. At 200 Miles, running alone is no longer enough. Movement, nutrition, sleep, navigation, patience and decision-making become one continuous mountain expedition.
The Mawla was shaped by the mountain. The Runner will be tested by it.
THE SUMMIT OF THE JUMPING GORILLA SYSTEM
200 MILE
WHEN AN ULTRA IS NO LONGER ENOUGH.
200 miles through mountain terrain changes the equation completely. This is no longer only about running. It is about managing movement, sleep, nutrition, navigation, weather, darkness, pain, decision-making and time. Hour after hour. Mountain after mountain. Until the finish becomes the only direction left.
200 MILES. ONE CONTINUOUS MOUNTAIN EXPEDITION.
ATTEMPT THE 200 MILERTHE EXPEDITION
100 MILE
Where endurance becomes self-reliance.
100 miles through the Sahyadri demands more than fitness. You need patience when the pace disappears. Discipline when fatigue arrives. And enough respect for the mountain to know that reaching the finish starts long before race day.
Choose Your Battle
Only your grit, endurance, and will to survive will carry you beyond.
